Classification and Application of Thermal Conductive Silicone rubber
Thermal conductive silica gel is mainly used in heat conduction and heat dissipation of heating components. The performance of ordinary thermal conductive silica gel depends on the composition of aluminium hydroxide. Of course, special thermal conductive silica gel will incorporate appropriate amount of precious metal oxides. It is mainly composed of polydimethylsiloxane, aluminium hydroxide, quartz powder, methyl trimethoxysilane and titanium chelate.
Thermal conductive silica gel can be divided into three states: greasy, paste and patch according to its application situation.
Thermal conductive silicone grease:
Thermal conductive silicone grease is the highest thermal conductivity of the three kinds of thermal conductive silicone gels. The thermal conductive silicone grease is pasty, sticky and non-drying. Generally, it can be used for more than five years. Thermal conductive silicone grease is mainly used to fill the gap between CPU and radiator, which is also called thermal interface material. Its function is to transmit heat from CPU to radiator, keep CPU temperature at a stable working level, prevent CPU from being damaged due to poor heat dissipation, and prolong its service life. Because in the application of radiator and heat conducting device, even two planes with very smooth surface will have voids when they contact each other. The air in these voids is a bad medium of heat conduction, which will hinder the heat transfer to the radiator. Thermal conductive silicone grease is a kind of material which can fill these voids and make the heat transfer more smoothly and quickly.
Thermal conductive paste:
Thermal conductive paste belongs to thermal interface material. Thermal conductive silica gel is thermal conductive RTV adhesive. It can be cured at room temperature. Its color is white or black. It can be cured only after it reacts with water vapor in the air. The biggest difference between thermal conductive paste and thermal conductive silica grease is that thermal conductive paste can be cured. After curing, it has certain elasticity, cohesiveness and extensibility. Thermal conductive paste has fixed and adhesive properties. Seal in accordance with general process. The thermal conductivity of the paste is the lowest among the three kinds of silica gel. It is suitable for the thermal conductivity of capacitance, resistance and other components, as well as the bonding between some heating components. It has strong acid and alkali resistance, but the working temperature of the paste generally does not exceed 200 C.
Thermal conductive patch:
In industry, thermal conductive patches are needed for large area heat dissipation, such as power supply, because the cost of thermal conductive patches is low, they are dry, easy to replace, thermal conductivity is generally low, high temperature can reach 300 C, low temperature is generally - 60 C. In electronic products, it is generally used on the surface of some electronic parts and chips with small calorific value but not easy to dissipate heat. It is suitable for simple processing of ordinary devices. On the edge of better batteries, heat conducting patches are usually attached. While conducting heat, they can fill the gap between the battery and the outer shell, and play a cushioning and stabilizing role. The thermal conductivity of this material is relatively small, so it is not suitable for high-end electronic products (such as computer CPU).
