High phenyl silicone rubber refers to a high molecular weight linear polysiloxane with phenyl siloxane or methyl phenylsiloxane links in the backbone. After being mixed with fillers, organic peroxide vulcanizing agents, and processing aids, it can become an elastomer after heating and vulcanization.
Introduction: When the phenyl content is more than 30%, it is commonly known as high phenyl silicone rubber, which has excellent radiation resistance. A high-molecular-weight linear polysiloxane containing phenyl siloxane or methylphenylsiloxane links in the backbone. After being mixed with fillers, organic peroxide vulcanizing agents, and processing aids, it can become an elastomer after heating and vulcanization.
Classification: According to the phenyl content, it is divided into three types: low phenyl, medium phenyl and high phenyl.
Characteristics: In addition to the small compression water deformation of methyl vinyl silicone rubber, wide range of operating temperature, aging resistance, shockproof, moisture-proof and excellent electrical insulation properties, phenyl silicone rubber also has excellent low temperature resistance, ablation resistance and radiation resistance. Due to the introduction of phenyl groups in the molecular structure, the regularity of the molecular structure of siloxanes is destroyed, the crystallinity of the polymer is reduced, and the cold tolerance is improved.
Example:
Medium phenyl silicone rubber has excellent cold resistance, once it ignites, it can self-extinguish, high phenyl silicone rubber has excellent radiation resistance. With the increase of phenyl content, the molecular rigidity increases, the irradiation resistance and flame resistance are improved, but the cold resistance decreases, and the methylphenyl mixed tetracyclic and tetramethylvinyl cyclotetrasiloxane are copolymerized under the catalysis of alkali catalyst, and the raw rubber is prepared after destroying the catalyst and removing the low-boiling matter by vacuum, and the rubber compound is mixed evenly with silica and organic peroxide structure control agent on the rubber mixer.
Uses: Molded and extruded into various products, in aviation, aerospace and other departments as low temperature, radiation and ablation resistant parts of the sealing ring, pad, pipe and bar.
Features: Phenyl silicone rubber is used in applications that require low temperature resistance, heat insulation, etc. Medium phenyl and high phenyl silicone rubbers due to processing difficulties. The physical and mechanical properties are poor, and the production and application are limited. It is made by introducing diphenylsiloxane links (or methylphenyl siloxane links) into the molecular chain of vinyl silicone rubber. This is done by introducing a large volume of phenyl group to destroy the regularity of the dimethylsiloxane structure, reducing the crystallization temperature and glass transition temperature of the polymer. At this point, the hardening temperature of the rubber is reduced to a minimum (-115°C), which gives it the best resistance to low temperatures, and still has flexible elasticity at -100°C.
