Exploring the Weather Resistance and Unique Properties of Phenyl Silicone Rubber

Hits: 697 img

Phenyl silicone rubber not only excels in heat and cold resistance but also demonstrates unique weather resistance and special properties. However, its weather resistance is relatively poor due to the vulnerability of phenyl double bonds to ultraviolet radiation, leading to oxidation reactions and aging cracks. Nevertheless, by adjusting the phenyl content, the properties of phenyl silicone rubber can be optimized. Low-phenyl silicone rubber (5%-15% phenyl content) boasts exceptional low-temperature resistance and high damping characteristics, maintaining flexibility even at -115°C. Medium-phenyl silicone rubber (15%-25% phenyl content) possesses good ablation and flame resistance, while high-phenyl silicone rubber (over 30% phenyl content) exhibits remarkable radiation resistance.

In the medical field, phenyl silicone rubber is widely used in the manufacture of medical devices such as artificial organs and heart stents due to its biocompatibility, high-temperature resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. Additionally, its shock absorption, moisture resistance, and excellent electrical insulation properties make it suitable for applications requiring low-temperature resistance, ablation resistance, high-energy radiation resistance, and thermal insulation.
