Liao Shiyi, a member of the Communist Party of China, a famous forestry economist, the school of economics and management of Beijing Forestry University and the main founder of the discipline of forestry economics and management, died in Beijing on the evening of April 13, 2020 at the age of 93. Liao Shiyi was born in Chengdu, Sichuan Province in 1927. After graduating from the Department of agricultural economics of Sichuan University in 1951, he worked in the central Ministry of Finance and the Central School of Finance and economics. In 1953, he was transferred to Beijing Forestry College as a teaching assistant of forestry economics and engaged in forestry economics teaching and scientific research for more than 60 years. Mr. Liao Shiyi is the main founder of the forestry economics discipline of Beijing Forestry University. He has a systematic research on the history of China's forestry economy, the economic evaluation of forest resources, the theory and method of forest price and the calculation of forest output value, the reform of forestry economic management system and so on. He has made an important contribution to the development of China's forestry economics discipline and has a wide academic influence in the field of forestry economy 。 Mr. Liao Shiyi has cultivated a large number of forestry economic researchers and managers. Mr. Liao devoted his whole life to the school of economics and management of Beijing Forestry University and the development of China's forestry economy. After retirement, he still worked hard to guide the discipline construction, personnel training and international development, giving full play to the surplus heat. The death of Mr. Liao Shiyi is a great loss to the school of economics and management and the academic circle of Beijing Forestry University.
