MQ silicone resin has great industrial application value. First of all, it is the only type of organosilicon polymer compound that does not start from expensive raw materials such as organosilicon metal compounds and silicon, but actually starts from water glass for mass production.
At the same time, practical progress has been made in introducing various organic groups into methyl MQ silicone resins or extending them into silicone resins with MDQ or MTQ structures. For example, epoxy-modified MQ silicone resin can be used as an adhesive surface treatment agent for tackifiers of organic resin coatings; chloromethyl-modified MQ silicone resin is sensitive to ultraviolet rays, electron beams and X-rays; high alkyl modified MQ silicone resin can be used as an additive for organic resins to reduce its internal stress and as an internal mold release agent.
