Door and window glue related professional knowledge, compare to find the gap!
Sealant has been widely used in curtain wall, doors and windows, hollow glass and interior decoration and other construction fields, playing a role of bonding and sealing. In the application process, we will come into contact with the concepts of structural glue, hollow glue, weatherproof glue, fire retardant glue and so on. What are the roles of these different types of sealants? How are they classified?
Sealants can be roughly divided into the following five categories according to their uses: silicone structural sealants, silicone weatherproof sealants, ordinary silicone sealants, two-way silicone sealants for hollow glass, and special-purpose silicone sealants.
I. Silicone structural sealant
Usage: Mainly used for structural bonding between glass and aluminium sub-frame (see Fig. 1), also used for two-way sealing of hollow glass in concealed frame curtain wall.
Characteristic: Bearing wind load and gravity load, it requires high strength, aging resistance and elasticity.
II. Silicone Weatherproof Sealant
Purpose: Sealing function of seam (see Fig. 1) to ensure air tightness, water tightness and other properties.
Features: It needs to withstand large changes in joint width, high elasticity (displacement ability) and aging resistance, not strength, high modulus and low modulus.
III. Ordinary Silicone Sealant
Usage: Seals for door and window joints, external wall fillings and other positions (see Figure 2).
Features: withstand the change of joint width, have certain displacement capacity requirements, do not require strength.
IV. Two-channel Silicone Sealant for Hollow Glass
Usage: Hollow glass two-way seal to ensure the structural stability of hollow glass (see figure 3).
Features: High modulus, not too soft, some have structural requirements.
V. Silicone Sealants for Special Purposes
Purpose: Used for seam seals with special requirements, such as fire protection (see Fig. 4), mildew prevention (see Fig. 5), etc.
Characteristic: It needs to have some special performance (such as anti-mildew, fire prevention, etc.).
6. Selection Principles of Door and Window Glue
1) Choose guaranteed door and window glue
The market doors and windows gum quality, price varies, some very cheap, the price is only half of the same kind of well-known products, or even lower. The physical properties and aging resistance of these low-cost and low-quality door and window glues can not meet the long service life of doors and windows. At the same time, the quality accidents caused by low-price and low-quality door and window glue may cause customers to pay several or even dozens of times the cost of purchasing glue, even cause serious social impact and damage the reputation of enterprises. Here, we suggest that users must choose guaranteed quality door and window glue.
How to choose the guaranteed door and window glue? The quality of door and window glue is related to the quality of raw materials, formula composition, production process, quality control system and other factors. In this regard, it is recommended that users understand and pay attention to the R&D capability, testing level, production process, production equipment and quality control system of manufacturers.
2) resolutely reject "oil-filled glue"
At present, silicone sealant is the main type of door and window sealant in China, and a large part of the low-cost and inferior silicone sealant on the market is to reduce costs by replacing expensive silicone based polymers with various alkane plasticizers (white oil, liquid paraffin, collectively called mineral oil), commonly known as "oil-filling glue". They usually attract customers at a low price. The price is very cheap, and there is no problem when they first use them. But after a few months to half a year, the problems of these products will gradually expose, such as cracking, pulverization, hardening, oil flowing and so on, which will bring great troubles and serious losses to customers.
How can we quickly identify whether the door and window glue is "oil-filled"? Here we share a quick and simple identification method. If the amount of mineral oil filled in sealant is larger, the shrinkage time of plastic film will be shorter, and the shrinkage phenomenon will be more obvious.
Through the above introduction, I believe that when you choose the door and window glue, you will choose the door and window glue brand products with word-of-mouth and guaranteed quality, and refuse to use inferior products filled with mineral oil. We will work together to provide more guarantees for the quality of doors and windows!
