Fluorosilicone pursues the ultimate material performance

Hits: 1391 img

In the pursuit of ultimate material performance, fluorosilicone rubber is reshaping industry perception with its revolutionary advantages. As a cutting-edge fusion of fluororubber (FKM) and silicone rubber (VMQ), it perfectly inherits the core advantages of both, becoming the ultimate solution for extreme working conditions.

Pushing the limits, boundless performance. The temperature resistance of fluorosilicone rubber is astonishing: in low-temperature environments, it maintains its elasticity down to -60°C, with some special formulations extending to -80°C; in high-temperature scenarios, it can withstand 200°C for extended periods without issue, and its short-term limit even exceeds 250°C. This ultra-wide temperature range adaptability makes it versatile in applications ranging from polar research equipment to high-temperature engine systems. Its chemical protection capabilities are equally outstanding; whether it's oily media such as fuel oil and hydraulic fluid, or strong acids, strong alkalis, and polar solvents (such as acetone and toluene), none can penetrate its molecular barrier. Only certain fluorinated solvents may pose a challenge, but this highlights its reliability in the vast majority of chemical environments.

Exceptional in both dynamic and static applications. In terms of mechanical properties, fluorosilicone rubber exhibits high tensile strength and excellent resilience, with a dynamic fatigue life far exceeding that of conventional materials, making it particularly suitable for sealing applications involving high-frequency movement. Its low compression set ensures that it maintains seal integrity under long-term pressure, providing durable protection for equipment. Furthermore, its low smoke and low toxicity meet safety standards, and its resistance to UV and ozone aging gives it excellent weather resistance, maintaining stable performance even when exposed to harsh natural environments.

Cross-industry applications define industry standards. From the automotive industry to aerospace, from chemical energy to cutting-edge medical devices, fluorosilicone rubber is ubiquitous. Turbocharger pipes, fuel system seals, rocket fuel pipelines, nuclear power plant valves… these fields with near-stringent material performance requirements have all become stages for showcasing its value. High-temperature resistant catheters in medical equipment and high-temperature connectors in electronics and electrical systems all rely on its unique advantages to break through performance boundaries.

The advantages are highlighted by the comparison, and the cost demonstrates the value. Compared to fluororubber (FKM), fluorosilicone rubber is superior in low-temperature elasticity and processing flexibility, while compared to silicone rubber (VMQ), its chemical resistance is overwhelmingly superior. Although the cost is slightly higher than ordinary rubber, the extended equipment life and improved reliability brought by its overall performance are enough to cover the initial investment. The only challenge to be aware of is vapor barrier properties, but permeability to specific gases such as hydrogen can be addressed through targeted formulation optimization.

Meticulous craftsmanship yields exquisite products. In terms of molding processes, fluorosilicone rubber supports compression molding, extrusion, and injection molding. Although it has low flowability, complex structures can be easily achieved through optimized mold design. Platinum or peroxide compounds are recommended for vulcanization systems; chlorine-containing accelerators should be avoided to ensure performance stability. It is advisable to store it away from high-temperature and humid environments to prevent moisture absorption from affecting the final quality.
