Depending on its viscosity and hydroxyl content, hydroxy silicone oil can be applied in different fields. For instance, medium- to high-viscosity hydroxy silicone oil is widely used as a base gel for paper release agents. Its cured film provides excellent release properties, suitable for applications such as label backing paper, asphalt packaging paper, sealing tape backing paper, and decorative paper backing paper.

In the electrical and electronics industry, hydroxy silicone oil serves as a critical component of insulating varnish or as part of insulators, offering reliable electrical insulation. It is also an ideal base material and diluent for condensation-type room-temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone rubber, used in sealants and mold-making compounds. Additionally, it can replace dimethyl silicone oil and is easier to emulsify.

Small molecular hydroxy silicone oil (25–30 mPa·s, hydroxyl content around 8%) acts as a structural control agent in silicone rubber production. It simplifies the processing workflow, enhances processing performance by eliminating the need for heat treatment, increases product transparency, and improves working conditions.
