Silicone oil has the following four properties:

1. Silicone oil is generally a colorless or light yellow, odorless, non-toxic, and non volatile liquid.

2. Silicone oil is insoluble in water, methanol, diol, and - ethoxyethanol, and can be miscible with benzene, dimethyl ether, methyl ethyl ketone, carbon tetrachloride, or kerosene. It is slightly soluble in acetone, dioxane, ethanol, and butanol. It has a low vapor pressure, high flash and ignition points, and a low freezing point.

3. As the number of chain segments n increases, the molecular weight and viscosity also increase. Therefore, this silicone oil can have various viscosities, ranging from 0.65 to millions of millimeters.

4. Silicone oil has excellent heat resistance, electrical insulation, weather resistance, hydrophobicity, physiological inertness, and small surface tension. In addition, it also has low viscosity temperature coefficient, high compression resistance, and some varieties also have radiation resistance.
