Influencing factors of vulcanization rate of silicone rubber

The vulcanization of silicone rubber products refers to the chemical crosslinking process of silicone rubber molecules under certain vulcanizing time, temperature and pressure under the action of vulcanizing agent. We all know that low temperature vulcanization is good for product performance, but the output of the product will be reduced and the cost will be increased. So many manufacturers will think about how to improve the vulcanization speed of silicone rubber products, shorten the forming time, improve production efficiency and reduce production costs without affecting product quality.

Selection of vulcanizing agents:

The commonly used vulcanizers are peroxide vulcanizers and platinum vulcanizers. The platinum vulcanizing agent in the production process mainly displays the following points: excellent dispersion, little volatility, fast vulcanization speed, low temperature forming. Colorless, odorless and environmentally friendly conform to FDA and FLGB. Most peroxides make products yellowing and tasty. With the increase of curing inhibitors, the curing rate becomes slower. With the increase of vulcanization accelerator, the rate of vulcanization is accelerated.

Setting of process conditions:

Vulcanization temperature is the basic condition for the vulcanization reaction (cross-linking reaction) of silicone rubber, which directly affects the vulcanization speed and product quality of silicone rubber. Like all chemical reactions, the sulfidation reaction accelerates with the increase of temperature, and more low sulfur crosslinking bonds are easy to be formed. Low sulfidation temperature leads to slow speed and low formation efficiency, resulting in more sulfur crosslinking bonds. The vulcanization temperature is generally applicable to Van Tehoff's law, i.e. the reaction rate doubles when the temperature rises by 8-10. The vulcanization rate of silicone rubber increases with the increase of pressure.

Other aspects:

Change the layout of silicone collagen material, try to make the mold in the process of pressing, silicone collagen material can be as far as possible to walk the entire inner wall of the mold. The molding operator speeds up the operation and minimizes the out-of-mold time to stabilize the temperature of the silicone product mold and increase the vulcanization speed of the silicone product.
