The development of various organosilicon products has blossomed in an all-round way
While developing methyl chlorosilane, Chinese research institutes and factories have not relaxed the development of downstream organosilicon products. Since the 1960s, Chinese researchers and engineers have rapidly mastered the development of downstream products of organic silicon containing various groups, forms, curing methods and uses. This is described below:
The most widely used dimethyl silicone oil, silicone grease, hydrogen-containing silicone oil

In China, as early as the 1960s, methyl silicone oil was synthesized in batches according to user requirements. Shanghai Resin Factory is the first one to produce methyl silicone oil with various viscosities. Early methyl silicone oil was mainly used in damping, demoulding, waterproofing and electrical insulation. Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) is the main raw material used in the classical synthesis of methyl silicone oil. Methyl silicone oil can be synthesized by adding different amounts of hexamethyldisiloxane (M2) as the head agent according to the molecular weight requirements of the final product. The surface tension of silicone oil is relatively low, and the amount of defoaming is very small. It has been used in industrial production such as fermentation and defoaming of engine oil. A series of defoamers for medical, chemical, building materials, warships and diesel locomotives won the National Science Congress Award (medical silicone oil and its defoaming effect will be described in Chapter 10).

202 high hydrogen silicone oil is used as intermediate material of addition silicone rubber and as waterproofing agent for fabrics, leather, glass and paper.

Semiconductor devices are in urgent need of # silicone grease, which breaks the technical barriers abroad. # SAS-1 thermal conductive silicone grease is mainly used for insulation and thermal conduction of TV high-power tubes and outlet bridges (temperature-controlled saturated standard battery packs). # 296 is mainly used as anti-pollution flashover (long-term) coating material for insulators of transmission lines. The anti-pollution flashover function of East China Power Station is up to 4 years (no flashover).

It is especially worth mentioning that the special silicone oil developed by the Institute of Research of Jilin Chemical Company has been used in the oil production operation of the petroleum industry with excellent results and is well received by users.

Phenyl methyl silicone oil with good heat resistance
Phenylmethyl silicone oil was introduced in China in the early 1960s.  Two series of phenyl methyl silicone oil have been developed by Shanghai Resin Factory. One is composed of diphenylsiloxane chains and dimethylsiloxane chains. It is obtained from the co-hydrolysis of Diphenyldichlorosilane and dimethyldichlorosilane in phenylchlorosilane. Another kind of silicone oil is a kind of silicone oil with both phenyl and methyl on the same silicon atom in the molecular chain. It is also prepared by "circuitous tactics", using relatively more monomethyltrichlorosilane as raw material, ethanol hydrolysis to obtain methyltriethoxysilane, and then sodium condensation method to synthesize phenylmethyldiethoxysilane. Then the hydrolysate of phenyl methyl diethoxysilane was blended with dimethyl cyclosiloxane and header agent to obtain phenyl methyl silicone oil. The thermal stability, oxidation resistance, lubricity and irradiation resistance of phenyl methyl silicone oil are better than dimethyl silicone oil. The working temperature range is also higher. Generally used as high temperature heat carrier and lubricant.
Ethyl silicone oil with good lubricity

In Wuhan Institute of Chemical Industry, Wuhan, China, there are a group of engineers and technicians who are good at synthesizing ethyl silicone oil by Grignard method. Liu Yutang and others of the Institute have synthesized a batch of silicone oil containing ethyl which is urgently needed by the country. Ethyl silicone oil is a widely used variety in the former Soviet Union. In China, only the Wuhan Institute of Chemical Industry has developed and produced it. Ethyl ethoxysilane was synthesized by using chloroethane and magnesium as raw materials and tetraethyl orthosilicate as reaction medium and solvent.  Then hydrolysis, equilibrium and distillation. Divide into distillates with different boiling ranges as finished products.

Ethyl silicone oil is a kind of lubricant and grease which can withstand both high and low temperature to meet the needs of aviation industry.  Ethyl silicone oil developed by Wuhan Chemical Research Institute specializes in supplying base oil to the Yiping Chemical Plant of the Ministry of Petroleum, located in Chongqing. Aviation lubricants and greases are prepared from the plant. In civil use, the Institute uses ethyl silicone oil with good lubricity and resistance to a certain temperature to prepare spindle oil for textile factories, and also to produce defoamers.
