Under the epidemic situation, Cambodia's rubber exports rose against the trend, with both volume and price rising

In 2020, the world will face the threat of epidemic, Cambodia is no exception, the economy will be severely hit, and the export of various products will be blocked. But rubber is the exception. In the first quarter of this year, Cambodia's rubber exports increased by 10% year on year.
According to a report by the Ministry of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, by the end of March 2020, the export of rubber to overseas markets was 53055 tons, an increase of more than 5000 tons, up 10% year on year.
The report also showed that the average price of rubber in the first quarter of this year was about $1420 per ton. In the first quarter of this year, prices rose about $141 a tonne, or about 11 per cent. In March this year, rubber exports were about $1397 a ton, down about $17. 1.21% per ton compared to February 2020, but an increase of $35 compared to March 2019. The report also shows that the total planting area of rubber in Cambodia is 405485 hectares, of which 250750 hectares are rubber production, and 154735 hectares are rubber plantation in growing period.
