On the evening of April 27, 2020, the university library had the honor to invite Dr. Li Na, director of the Department of radio, television and new media system of the school of Humanities and social sciences of Nanjing Forestry University, to give an online lecture on the theme course of "document data processing and visual analysis" to the partners of the final training camp of the "Le Yan Cup" information literacy competition of our university.
In class, Miss Li Na first explained the process of literature collection for the contestants from five aspects: the definition of literature, the classification of literature, the channels of literature search, the collection steps and literature management. Taking note express as an example, she showed you many convenient means of literature collection and management.
Li Na introduced two kinds of free software for document data processing and visual analysis, cite space and vosviewer. She used two kinds of software to carry out document retrieval and visual processing with two themes of "Local Chronicles" and "epidemic situation" as examples, demonstrating the process of software operation for the contestants in the field, and interpreting the generated maps in detail one by one.
Teacher Li Na also gave the following two suggestions to the contestants: first, make full division of labor and cooperation, students with good writing skills can consider writing, foreword, frame structure, reference sorting, and students with strong hands-on ability can consider software operation, retrieval, visualization, screenshots, tabulation, and students with strong understanding ability can consider Be responsible for the interpretation of results, and find descriptive results and contents from visual screenshots and tables; make full use of auxiliary tools, she suggests using Noteexpress or Baidu academic generation for references, which not only saves time and effort, but also ensures the correctness of format. In terms of software selection, she suggests using the combination of Noteexpress + CiteSpace or Noteexpress + vosviewer.
After class, Ms. Li Na also interacted with the contestants on the teaching content. The players of the final training camp and the librarians who attended the class all said that they had benefited a lot and gained valuable experience in thesis writing and data processing. Later, teacher Li Na, relevant teachers from the information consulting department and the digital resources construction department will provide personalized guidance on the questions raised by the students in the final training camp.
