Liquid silicone for making GRC molds

Hits: 177 img

Liquid silicone is a commonly used material for making GRC (Glassfiber Reinforced Concrete) molds, also known as silicone rubber or silane rubber. It has good weather resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, high-temperature stability, and wear resistance, making it very suitable for making molds with complex shapes.

When making GRC molds, two sets of liquid silicone are usually mixed and solidified, which are commonly referred to as component A and component B. After mixing component A and component B, the liquid silicone begins to solidify into an elastomer, which is filled on the prototype surface of the GRC mold and maintains the shape of the mold during the curing process. After curing, the liquid silicone mold can be easily removed and reused.

The hardness of liquid silicone can be selected according to project requirements, usually ranging from 10 Shore A to 80 Shore A. Silicone with higher hardness is suitable for making larger molds or molds that require higher precision, while silicone with lower hardness is suitable for making molds with smaller or more complex shapes.

Please note that before using liquid silica gel to make molds, it is recommended to read the relevant product instructions and Safety data sheet, and operate correctly according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Liquid silicone may involve specific mixing ratios, curing times, and processing methods to ensure optimal mold performance.
