What are the differences in the production process of different silicone rubbers

There are some obvious differences in the production process of different types of silicone rubber, which are mainly related to their vulcanization method and processing process. The following will introduce the differences in production processes between HTV silicone rubber and RTV silicone rubber:

The production process of HTV silicone rubber:

Pre vulcanization: HTV silicone rubber requires pre vulcanization treatment before manufacturing. In the pre vulcanization stage, silicone rubber is mixed with a vulcanizing agent and pre vulcanized at high temperature to form the raw material.
Mixing: The pre vulcanized silicone rubber raw material will be mixed with other additives, fillers, and pigments to obtain the required performance and characteristics.
Forming: Put the mixed silicone rubber raw material into the mold and fix its shape through methods such as extrusion, compression molding, or injection molding.
Thermal vulcanization: The formed silicone rubber product is placed in a high-temperature oven and subjected to thermal vulcanization under certain time and temperature conditions to achieve final curing. This vulcanization process usually requires a higher temperature and a certain amount of time.

The production process of RTV silicone rubber:

Mixing: At the beginning of the production process of RTV silicone rubber, the silicone rubber base material is mixed with vulcanizing agents, and a catalyst is added to initiate the vulcanization reaction.
Curing: The vulcanization process of RTV silicone rubber does not require high temperature, it can be carried out at room temperature, but it takes a certain amount of time to fully cure. This allows RTV silicone rubber to be used at room temperature and has a longer operating time.
Molding: When the vulcanization process is not completed, RTV silicone rubber can be injected or coated on the required surface, and then cured at room temperature.
In summary, the production process of HTV silicone rubber involves high-temperature vulcanization, requiring higher vulcanization temperature and time, while the production process of RTV silicone rubber involves room temperature vulcanization, requiring longer curing time. Due to its ability to cure at room temperature, RTV silicone rubber is more convenient than HTV silicone rubber in some special situations.
